January Comes To An End With Working Structure Fire

The Beginning of the year has been busy for Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department. Stations have seen a large number working fires and the month came to close with another one. Around 11:40 pm crews were dispatched to a possable structure fire at 7220 Snow Hill Drive in Snow Hill Subdivision. When the first unit arrived on the scene they reported heavy smoke coming from the eves. Upon further investigation crews discovered heavy fire in the attic area. Crews then began the process of extinguishing the fire. Crews had to fight several difficult contributing factors one being the cold weather. Temptures below the teens made for icy and slick conditions,the other was the insulation used in the home made for a difficult time trying to put the fire out and get it under control. Crews battled the blaze for nearly 4 hours and units finally cleared around 3:30 am. All was not lost firefighter were able to help preserve several collectable items for the home owners who had spent over 30 years in this residence.
