I just made a donation in loving memory of Sandra Clift but I noticed there was no place on the form to indicate this, and I just wanted you to know. Sandra really valued the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department and appreciated all you do and the importance of having you in Spotsylvania, always working hard to keep our loved ones safe. I no longer live in Spotsylvania VA, but I share her appreciation for what you do, and for also keeping my own loved ones safe--my daughter Dawn Leonard - Licciardello, and granddaughter and her husband, Bryn and Justin Thacker. Thank you.

For what it's worth, I think that the Santa Run is great however, I live in Stewarts Crossing and my two small children were outside last night waiting for Santa. They were very very excited but Santa and the truck he was on never went all the way down Willow Ridge Way (the Road I live on) it turned right and went on it's way and my wife and I were left with two crying and very disappointed children. Whats up? What happened you guys came all the way down the street last year and it was great. You really disappointed two small children.

THIS IS A BIG "THANK YOU" FOR ALL THOSE WHO HELPED OUT ON THE HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT THAT HAPPENED ON THE EVENING OF SATURDAY AUGUST 31, 2013. ON OUR WAY HOME ON ROUTE 208, AND THE INTERSECTION OF LEAVELLS ROAD OUR TRUCK WAS STRUCK, OVERTURNED AND LANDED IN THE DITCH. THE OTHER DRIVER KEPT ON GOING. PASSER BUYERS HELPED MY HUSBAND AND I OUT OF OUR F150. A COUPLE OF MEN HELPED TO GET MY HUSBAND OUT AS HE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME MANEUVERING HIS LEGS, AFTER HE GOT HIS SEAT BELT UNDONE. I REMEMBERING HEARING A LADY ASK HOW MANY PEOPLE AND WHERE WE LOCATED IN THE TRUCK . THEN I RECALL HER SAYING SHE WAS GOING TO BREAK THE GLASS ON MY SIDE. I DO NOT RECALL EXACTLY HOW I GOT OUT BECAUSE I HAD A HARD TIME GETTING OUT OF THE SEAT BELT WHICH I FINALLY DID GET UNDONE. WHEN I DID, I JUST STARTED TO CRY ABOUT MY TRUCK WHICH WAS MY CHILD!! ROBIN WHO SAID SHE WAS A VOLUNTEER TRIED TO KEEP ME CALM. I DID SEE ANOTHER GUY IN A GRAY SHIRT NOT SURE HOW HE MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED. SHE STAYED WITH ME UNTIL THE RESCUE CREW CAME. I BELIEVE SOME OTHERS FOLLOWED THE DRIVER THAT HIT US. AN AMBULANCE RIDE WITH HARRY AND CHRIS TO THE HOSPITAL I WENT. WE ARE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE COME OUT OF THIS WITH JUST SCRAPES, BRUISES, ACHES AND PAINS. SEAT BELTS DO SAVE LIVES. AGAIN "THANK YOU" TO ALL INVOLVED IN THIS ACCIDENT.

Larry Garland Fitton, of Alexandria, VA, died on May 23, 2013 at the age of 63. He was born on August 27, 1949 and was the son of the late Wilbur H. Fitton and Gladys A. Cheek. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Carolyn Fitton, his father, Wilbur H. Fitton, his step-father, Arthur E. Cheek, and his brother, Barry W. Fitton. He was a devoted father to Twanna G. Wiley, Shawn G. Fitton, and Douglas A. Fitton. He is also survived by his brother, Garry N. Fitton, his sisters, Donna C. Green and Diane A. Stumpf, and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel 5755 Castlewellan Dr. Alexandria, VA on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name fitton family 3426 Elmwood dr Alexandria va 22303

Just learned of the brush fire @ Curtis Lane... I have only been at my house for a little over a year & had to Google it since it sounded familiar. Turns out I am less than about a mile & a half "as the crow flies" from Curtis Lane.

I would like to thank the SVFD crew that worked the brush fire today. Recently divorced, I have no family on the East Coast to go to. I am really glad I had a house to come home to after work today. I don't know what I would have done otherwise. I hope all went well & there were no injuries. Y'all have my deepest respect for what you do! Y'all are our hometown heroes!!

Chief -- my brother-in-law, Roy Chittum, is a life member of the Spotsylvania VFD. He went missing from his home in Barrington, NH this past weekend. Roy hailed from Spotsylvania County and if he reaches out to any of his old acquaintenances there, the Barrington PD and his family would deeply appreciate knowing about it.

BARRINGTON — Police are attempting to locate a 52-year-old man reported missing by his family Friday.

Roy Chittum "has been dealing with personal issues and there are concerns for his safety and well-being," police said in a statement released Saturday evening.

Chittum's vehicle was located close to the family home. An extensive search was conducted by more than a half-dozen agencies, including Fish and Game, and the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team.

If anyone has contact with Chittum, they are asked to call Barrington Police at 603-664-2700.

My name is Jodi Harrison and I am the mother of Michael Harrison, whom you rescued from the double entrapment on 208, August 14, 2011. I wanted to thank all of you who saved my son's life. Had he moved the wrong way, his broken neck would have pierced his spinal cord. In all he broke his neck, back, shoulders, hip, shattered pelvis, ruptured spleen, bladder and kidney, colapsed lung and other semi-minor issues too numerous to count. He is still in recovery at UVA, but is expected to make a full recovery. My gratitude is will forever be given to the firefighters and rescue personel of Spotsylvania County. His life will forever be changed, but because of you he is alive! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
