Congrats on getting your new Squad in Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment Magazine!!! Looks GREAT! Do you still have the Goldleaf installed on the truck by hand? That truck will serve you well and I bet the guys at Company 4 are just smiling from ear to ear. Can't wait to see some up close pictures on this website! (Soon?) That care and stay safe. From a former first member of Co. 8.

I want to thank the men and women who selflessly give of themselves at the times when the rest of us need them the most. As private citizens of the community they, as well as their families, give their weekends, their evening family time, as well as a good nights rest to respond to someone else's emergency. They give of their own personal resources at a time that is difficult at best. The only thing that they ask for is that someone would do it for them in their time of need. As family and friends of these men and women and as an entire community, we who do not VOLUNTEER, need to make sure that they have the necessary resources to continue doing what needs to be done. We all have a voice.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all those firefighters who fought the fire at our Snow Hill residence. Many important items were saved in the home because of their efforts to contain the fire. When the flames broke through the roof I thought for certain all was lost. Again thank you, stay safe and God bless.

Just wanted to thank all of the men and women which were/are selfless enough to put their lives on the line everyday for our brother volunteered in the early 90's and he loved every min of it. He passed away in 93 at the age of 23 and the entire company filled my family with the compassion that came from the honor of being a firefighter...Seeing the amount of support that came from you will never be forgotten, just as I will never forget him. R.I.P. Michael Garner. Thank you and God bless!

I want to thank you guys for all the work you all have been doing on the last eight structure fires and this past Saturday for the less than 5 min resp! This is why we encourage how important it is for the stations to be staffed at all times.

As you see the old Co 1 is gone but please dont let our memories die, to the firefighters and there families, that left this building here for us to share and build some of the best memories I want to thank you they will never be forgotten! As you remener this was our home to many young firefighters who are now serving our county today, I hope in years to come that people will always talk about the, REAL CO 1 THE BIG HOUSE, THE REAL HOUSE, AT THE COURTHOUSE!!!!!

Looking forward to a great 2010!!!

Just to let you guys know that I look foward to checking the web site occassionally. The changes and growth of the SVFD is about the only way that I can keep up with my other family. In the 11 + years that I have been away from home, missing the duty has been hard. Keep making the people of the county proud.

Greetings from Australia:

Fire Chief
Mr. Thomas Oesterheld
Spotsylania Vol; Fire Department

Chief; please allow me to introduce myself to you; my name is Leo Cartwright, I live in Victoria, Australia. I have been a Paramedic in Victoria for the past 33yrs now & still enjoy that feeling; I am also an accredited Emergency Medical Dispatcher for our 000 calls (911). While surfing the web I came across your web-site and found it very interesting.

The reason I write to you is that I collect all types of Emergency Services Shoulder Patches, Badges and alike from around the world. I do not sell them; I only collect but willing to trade for my service patch. I am hoping that you would see fit to release a pair of your department or association insignia /patches to my care; where they would be cherished in my collection.
If required I can swap patch for patch of my state 'Ambulance Victoria' (EMS) patch. I do have a limited number of our state police force that I can trade. I am trying to collect worldwide EMS/Paramedic, Fire; Police & Air Wing patches & badges; if you also know of a member who that shares the same interest, please feel free to have them in contact me.

If you share any doubt, I am a trusted person and have no intention but to collect patches, not to misuse organizational patches/badges in any shape or form that would misrepresent any establishment such as yours or breach the Security of any organisation. I am a registered 'Justice of the Peace' in the State of Victoria; and the Manager of our local State Emergency Service, involved in S&R as well as Road Crash Rescue.
I would imagine that you receive a lot of this type of request and I apologize if I have disturbed your busy day. But if I don't ask, I'll never know.
Hoping you can assist me and I have enclosed my postal address below.
I thank you for taking the time to read my message and awaiting your reply.

"God bless you all"

My name is Daniel Staudinger and I am 24 years old. I work for the Defence
Force in Finland as a military police, I am also a trained firefighter and
the leader of the fire and rescue force on my base in southern Finland.

I started my career in 1997 with Grankulla volunteer fire brigade near
Helsinki, the capital of Finland at the age of 12. And continued with the
fire brigade since I was 18 years and could go along on emergencies and
incidents responce. I started my studies in the fire and rescue academy here
Finland in 2006 and graduated in the autumn of 2007. Before this I have
for North Star Fire Department in Alaska USA during the summer of 2006 and I
have also trained firefighters from Monrovia, Liberia`s capital city in
Africa for the United nations.

I am very interested in international co-working in the fire, rescue and EMS
jobs. I have worked for the defence force/navy for 2 years and during that
I have completed several training programs. Among those : working safely on
heights / specialicing in explosives and EOD-1(explosives ordonance disposal
operator) , Hazmat and water rescue.

However my question for you is if there is a possibility for an exchange
program with the Spotsylvania VFD during the late summer/ autumn of this year 2009,
would be a great challenge for me personally and coming in contact with your
fire and rescue culture would be amazing.

I will provide any detailed information about me and my certificates along
with a sponsorship letter from my chief if one is needed.

Best and cold winter regards from Finland,
