Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department recognizes Probationary Firefighter Meegana Henry for the month of September. Meegana is one of fifteen members in Spotsylvania 2021 Fire Academy, which started this September. Meegana joined our organization this August and has shown dedication through winning this year’s SCBA Challenge and becoming class leader for the Spotsylvania Fire Academy.

Meegana is a Hiking Guide/Sales Associate for an outdoor gear shop. Meegana joined our organization to become a firefighter. Meegana's dream job as a child has now turned into a passion as she realizes we do not have a second life to live, so do not put off those "maybe in another life" goals. Meegana most memorable day so far has been the infield training where the recruits hoisted ladders and the Firefighters and Chiefs practiced fire scenarios in a smokey building. “It just gave me goals to look forward to and be proud of”. Meegana’s advice to anyone who wants to become a firefighter is, if you want a team, if you want to serve your community, if you want to be a better person - do it. Without volunteers’ like Meegana Henry dedication to community service, the community could not receive the assistance that is expected when calling 911.
