Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department recognizes Probationary Firefighter Meegana Henry for the month of September. Meegana is one of fifteen members in Spotsylvania 2021 Fire Academy, which started this September. Meegana joined our organization this August and has shown dedication through winning this year’s SCBA Challenge and becoming class leader for the Spotsylvania Fire Academy.

Sunday, October 4th, Courthouse Tanker 1 and Four Mile Fork Engine 4 was officially welcomed to the two fire companies and Citizens of Spotsylvania County.

Housing ceremony is a long tradition to our organization and to the fire service. Both new fire apparatus will have a great impact to both Company 1 and 4 to continue supporting the residents of Spotsylvania County.

Jim is a Navy Vietnam Veteran joining the volunteer fire service after coming home in 1971 by following his brother into Seat Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company - Capitol Heights, MD. Jim continued his volunteer service and became a Life Member at Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department - Hillcrest Heights, MD from 1974 - 1992 until his move to Virginia where he joined SVFD Four Mile Fork Company 4. ... A Fire Chaplin helps fire department members in the event of an injured or killed firefighter. They are also available to personnel for grief counseling. They lend an ear for those who need to talk about something that is bothering them, such as physical or emotional stress. A fire chaplain's goal is to aid, comfort and help firefighters and their families.
